Goals | Fall

It is officially my favorite time of year, and I could not be more excited. I absolutely love waking up to a slight chill in the air, bundling up with cozy scarves, and cupping a mug of piping hot cinnamon coffee. Here are my fun "goals" for this season:

  • Horse back riding
  • Camping in the mountains
  • Apple picking
  • Make candy apples
  • Go to the State Fair
  • Make a pecan pie with pecans from the backyard
  • Buy a pumpkin
  • Get a Pumpkin Spice Latte
  • Vineyard Tour
  • Ghost Tour

There are so many fun things to do in the fall!  Any goals/traditions/activities of your own?

Ideas | Children at Weddings

I know there are a lot of brides who know little ones that hold a special place in their hearts. There were a handful of kiddos at our wedding that I couldn't imagine NOT being there. That being said, I know there are concerns as to how to keep those little minds occupied during a long wedding day. Here are a few ideas that I think will keep the adults and kids happy!

  • Create a personalized place setting to make your favorite little girls and boys feel extra special and welcome. Include fun activities like coloring books and candy necklaces for hours of playtime.
  • Hire a babysitter that will stick around for both the ceremony and reception. The sitter can keep kids in an adjoining room during the vows so that the parents (and bride!) don't have to worry about outbursts during the "I dos". Afterwards, the parents can let loose at the reception.
  • Include cameras at each child's seat. He or she will love taking photos all night! Plus, I guarantee you will get some amazing candid moments from them!
  • Simply making the kids' table look fun will draw those kids in like bugs to a flame. Add giant balloons and colorful linens to make it look inviting.
  • Serve kid-friendly food! Kids are usually picky eaters, so having food they recognize and will want to eat can eliminate temper tantrums.

Married | Amanda + Nate

I had the pleasure of being a bridesmaid at one of my dear friend's wedding. When I say it was a pleasure, I mean it. Amanda is the most calm and collected bride I have ever seen. Her wedding day was sheer joy and loads of fun was had by all who were lucky enough to attend. My legs were sore for days after from all of the dancing! Here are a few photos I snapped throughout the day. Amanda put some serious thought into all of the details and it showed! This gorgeous couple had the ceremony and reception at Haywood Hall in Raleigh, NC.

Our Wedding | Two Year Anniversary

Today is our anniversary - how can two years have already gone by?! To celebrate and reminisce, Brian and I planned a day trip to the establishments that were a part of our big day. We started at the Tucker House in Raleigh that was the site for our reception. Brian had called ahead and we got to sneak in on the tail end of a bride to be's informational appointment. It was so fun to poke around and be in that house again. I still love it just as much as the day we got married.

Next on the agenda was Side Street Cafe, just down the street (no pun intended). Y'all, if you want some good 'ol Southern food, this is the place to go. The owner, Mary Lou, is the epitome of a Southern woman and you will definitely be bathed in Southern hospitality once you walk through the charming white paneled door. It is a little hole in the wall, which is my kind of place.

Last stop was a walk through the Raleigh Little Theater Rose Garden. A wedding limo was just driving off as we got to the entrance. How fitting! The roses were on their last legs after the first bloom of the season, but were still absolutely gorgeous. If you are in the area, this is a romantic spot worth checking out.

We capped off the evening by opening up a bottle of the wine we served at our wedding (a Trader Joe's find). The weather was perfect for sitting on the front porch rocking chairs with our fur baby, Lola.

All in all, it was a pretty great way to celebrate our anniversary. Do you have any special traditions for your anniversary?

DIY | Prinstagram

I think one of the best features of Instagram nowadays is it's application to weddings - but, I will admit, I am slightly biased! Back in the day (even the mere two years ago when I got married), you waited week upon agonizing week to get those precious photos back from your photographer. You were lucky to see a sneak peek blog post or quick snapshot from a friend. Now, all you need is a clever #hashtag and your friends' cell phones to create a real time photo gallery that is great fun going through the day after.

So, you have all of these amazing photos captured by your nearest and dearest. Now what? I stumbled upon the website Printstagram that offers a variety of Instagram wedding fun! Here are a few ways you can incorporate these products into your wedding.

Calender
Perfect for your desk or as a gift for your parents, it would be so fun to see a different picture of the big day every day!

Prints & Posters
To me, those stuffy formal wedding portraits of the bride and groom are a little outdated. Personally, I don't want a giant canvas of myself staring back at me all the time. I would much rather see a giant collage of my friends and family dancing up a storm and crying through thoughtful toasts.

 Minibooks
These itty bitty books make great gifts for the in-laws and are the perfect size for your coffee table!

Stickers
The stickers are my favorite! Use them on the back of thank you note envelopes for a fun reminder of the good times had. Or, use your engagement photos on Instagram to create stickers to include with your save the dates. Guests can mark their calenders of the big day with a cute picture of you and your beau.

Married | Amanda of 100 Layer Cake

I had to share this wedding the moment I came across it on 100 Layer Cake. My heart literally skipped a beat when I saw the gobs of gold glitter and black & white stripes. You.must.check.it.out. Here are parts one and two
