Oh Paris, how I love thee! I don't think it is possible to dislike this city of lights. I was lucky enough to spend a semester abroad in college (talk about one of the best decisions ever) and have been itching to go back ever since. Paris is pretty much the perfect place to plan a romantic getaway or honeymoon.
Fun facts: You technically need permission from the SETE to publish a photo of the Eiffel Tower at night - any light display on the tower can be protected under copyright!
Good for: Romance, History
Where to stay: Of course, this will all depend on your budget, but here are some that are voted as the most romantic: Secret de Paris, Jays Paris, Hotel le Petit Paris, Hotel Ares Paris, Ermitage Hotel Sacre-Coeur, Hotel du Champ de Mars
What to do: Where do I begin? You can do the typical museum trips to the Louvre and Musee D'Orsay, but here are a few fun things to do off the tourist beaten path: drink a bottle of French wine by the Seine and watch the sunset over Notre Dame, take a train ride to Reims to enjoy a tour of the place where real champagne is crafted, go to Sacre Cour and watch the sunrise over the city, make friends with a Parisian and get yourself invited over for a real French dinner party, take your sketchbook to one of the many parks and spend the afternoon drawing and snacking on a baguette, make a picnic with friends and watch the sunset over the Eiffel Tower, spend a morning at the Marchee aux Puces flea market. I could go on and on. :)
Where to eat: You can literally walk into anywhere in Paris and have a great culinary experience. Here is a great website that outlines different places to go. My advice would be to avoid places near tourist attractions. Also, check out different types of places. Make sure to scour an open food market as well as specialty shops like cheese shops and definitely a bakery. By all means, no matter what, you must try a fresh croissant and real French macaron. Life changing, friends.
